Sarah Garfield

Born and raised in North London, with her heritage consisting of Lituanian, British & American.

Sarah has always described herself as being “extremely creative”. Her work is often inspired by a defining moment in her teens when she snuck into a Meadham Kirchhoff London Fashion Week show, and just fell in love with the idea of creating “an immersive wearable 3D world, with a powerful identity.”

Student Project

REBELLIOUS BUT POLISHED
‘Rebellious but Polished’ is a collection using reclaimed materials and offcuts to create something inspired by street photography and a gothic sophistication. Sarah has interpreted the iconic Gommino Loafer, encouraging her to step out of her comfort zone and keep pushing her own possibilities with accessory design.

Background

“A recurring theme in my work is drawing from my teen years as a ‘goth’, which I feel shaped me today. This was present within this project, but in a much more subtle, sophisticated way.”
