Vivien Canadas

Vivien is a 26-year-old fashion designer from France.

After obtaining his Masters degree from the School of Communication of Sciences Po. Paris (France) and a couple of internships later, he worked for 2 years in John Galliano’s ready-to-wear team at Maison Margiela. This led him to apply for the Masters degree in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins where he finds himself now.

Student Project

Vivien looked at Italian culture and wanted to celebrate its gastronomy. He was intrigued by its sophistication and its importance in Italian daily life. “Not only did I want to explore the Italian food culture, I wanted to celebrate this moment of sharing with our loved ones.” The “Tortellini bag” is a favourite of Vivien’s in this collection, showcasing it as a playful bag, yet keeping the elegance and sophistication of Tod’s DNA.

Mentorship

MENTOR: SIMONE MARCHETTI
Editor-in-chief Vanity Fair Italia

Background

“As far as I can remember, I’ve always been strongly interested in garments and fashion. I vividly remember waking up early in the morning and watching again and again Fashion TV trying to memorise and identify each designer’s collection. I also remember my grandmother, Rosa, working on her industrial Singer machine and making herself some new garments or adjusting the hem of our trousers. She was born in 1929 in Northern Italy and moved to France at the age of 5.”
