Ranura Edirisinghe

Ranura is originally from Sri Lanka and moved to the UK when they were 4 years old, growing up in Loughborough.

Ranura moved to London to study at Central Saint Martins, completing both Foundation and BA course and now the MA.
"I’ve always seen fashion as material, texture, form and colour so textiles were a natural choice for me. I’ve always loved sculpture, the work of Phyllida Barlow, Franz West, Carsten Höller and Yayoi Kusama from a young age and thought that fashion would be the best form of communication for me.”

Background

“I was always drawn to tacitly, textures, colour and through that textiles. I never really had plans to study fashion, it’s not taught in school and most creative subjects aren’t really given the space they deserve through school. I was really into making things and I learnt to hand knit and this really sparked a further interest.”
