Student Project

JOURNEY
Miriam has found that her favourite part about this project was the research into her heritage. Taking inspiration from the Gommino and its driving shoe usage, she went on to explore what her grandparents’ backgrounds were and what their experience was with their first car. Her mother’s love for her first car ride leaned heavily into her journey concept using materials from the car and driving gloves to inform materials she used to give her collection an added touch of luxury.

Background

“My heritage is a big part of my design. My mother coming from a small historical village and my grandparents leaving Europe made me always curious about our heritage. I started collecting things from places where they have lived and learned traditional techniques about embroidery and paper. I love including those elements.”
