Lucile Guilmard

Lucile was born and raised in Paris before moving to London after high school.

She was inspired to start her career in fashion by visiting her uncle's shop in Paris, being fascinated by the “monstrous” industrial sewing machine. Her father had always described her uncle as a creator first which led her to discover the artist perspective fashion has.

Student Project

Lucile has looked to combine Tod’s style and her own by mixing the iconic Gommino with the clog. She found interest between the common heritages of the shoes that both were created to answer a function: a need to help the wearer be more comfortable in their respective duties. She also really enjoyed their genderless qualities which led her to explore materials that had the luxury of Tod’s but also kept its genderless functionality.

Mentorship

MENTOR: STAVROS KARELIS
Founder and buying director of concept store Machine-A

Background

“I guess the admiration my Dad held for his older brother being a creator and following his own vision introduced me to the idea of creation as a vector for respect. My Dad stitched all my costumes for primary school’s end of year show, at the same time as teaching me some new perspective about masculinity I guess.”
