Alecsander Rothschild

Alecsander Rothschild is a Danish fashion designer.

Before starting the MA Fashion at Central Saint Martins, Alecsander worked for Mugler in Paris. In 2017, Alecsander won the Designer’s Nest competition and was chosen for Italian Vogue’s New Talent issue.

Student Project

Alecsander looked at a lot of modernist sculptures from Dame Barbara Hepworth for shape alongside a variety of vintage Gogo-boots from Paco Rabanne and Courreges Pater Sato for colours.
“I was looking at a lot of different types of references for colours and ultimately found Pater Sato’s 80’s airbrush illustration absolutely mesmerising, so I got inspired by that to create my own airbrush logo-mania print” this inspired large freestyle typography that feels flamboyant and colourful that we can see across products and executed in the unique project logo.”
“Flamboyance is key in my practice, and that was also how I connected to the project itself. I wanted to challenge the Tod’s Icons into something very flamboyant.”

Background

“I come from a family of sculptors and painters, so I wanted to make my project very much inspired by my heritage in that way of treating the products more like objects or sculptures than just a functional product.”
